MINDSET appoints Motsamai Hlatywayo
Mindset has appointed Motsamai Hlatywayo as its project planner.
Motsamai joined Mindset in 2022. He is a registered Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) and has a history in the construction industry as a candidate construction manager. He obtained a B.Sc. Construction Management degree from the University of the Free State and certificate in Project Management in an Information Technology Environment from the University of South Africa.
Motsamai is tasked with scheduling and controlling Mindset’s projects to ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget.
MINDSET appoints Kevin Donaldson
Mindset has appointed Kevin Donaldson as senior mining engineer.
Kevin is a mining engineer with more than 35 years of experience in coal mining and project management. He has experience in both the corporate sector as well as the junior miner sector of the industry. Kevin’s previous roles included chief development engineer at Universal Coal and regional manager (project services) at Anglo American.
Kevin’s strengths, among many, is contributing to smooth and productive operations and collaborating cross-functionally across organisational levels to build consensus, track benchmark achievement, and troubleshoot emerging issues. Kevin has managed the greenfields development of two collieries and the successful de-mothballing and turnaround of two additional collieries.
MINDSET appoints De Jager Botha
Mindset appointed De Jager Botha as a site supervisor.
Mindset is increasingly conducting project management services for clients in terms of managing sites where plants are being constructed.
De Jager joined Mindset in December 2021 to provide site management services. De Jager holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
De Jager’s strengths lie in the identification and execution of improvements on site, formulating technical requirements for systems and overseeing the installation of those systems. He is responsible for daily maintenance and operational requirements on clients’ sites and assists in routine planning, ordering, personnel management and liaising with the process team on progress.
He has completed various courses and received many certifications in, among others, project and maintenance management. He is an ECSA Candidate Engineer.
MINDSET appoints Heide Hlaka
Mindset appointed Heide Hlaka as a junior quantity surveyor.
Heide Hlaka joined Mindset in 2020 first as a part-time quantity surveyor, and was later appointed as a full-time junior quantity surveyor. Ms Hlaka received her honours degree in quantity surveying from the University of Pretoria with a distinction. She has received various university awards, including the Golden Key Award for the top 15% academic student of the Quantity Surveying degree (2017 and 2019).
She is responsible for quantity surveying and project development.

Mining consulting engineers, Mindset Mining Consultants, conducted a feasibility study for Sasol Mining on its proposed longwall project. The proposed longwall project forms part of the Syferfontein Colliery planning. The study looked at two mining blocks, namely Block IV and Alexander Block 2.
Independent mining consulting firm Mindset Mining Consultants, which has extensive experience and knowledge in the South African coal mining sector and is actively involved in servicing the local coal industry, has earned itself bragging rights by playing an integral role in the landmark reopening of the historic Usutu West mine, a colliery in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Universal Coal (ASX: UNV) has demonstrated the strength of its Kangala thermal coal project and the Eskom off take contract, securing 65% project financing from South Africa’s FirstRand Bank.
